SASKATOON (August 17, 1993) The Indian Claims Commission today released recommendations in its first report on land claims submitted by the Canoe Lake First Nation of Saskatchewan and the Cold Lake First Nation of Alberta.

Creek Renamed In Honour Of Late Senator

SASKATOON (August 27, 1993). Family and friends of the late Senator Hillard McNab C.M. gathered at Wanuskewin Heritage Park near Saskatoon for a ceremony to officially rename the creek which flows through the park into the South Saskatchewan River. The creek, formerly known as Tipperary Creek, now bears the name Opimihaw Creek, after the Cree name of the late Senator who was instrumental in the Park's development. The name means "one who flies above."
